HTC explorer is one of the android devices which has earned quite a huge fan base.Even though HTC has discontinued further updates to this device, devs didn't let it die,. More and more development progressed for pico. As a result many ROMs are available for explorer, Cyanogen series is the most remarkable of them all. It has recieved CM9, then CM10 and finally getting KitKat CM11. We have already provided instruction on flashing CM9 and CM10. Links are provided below for those who want to try it.

Please keep in mind that this ROM will have few bugs as other versions. This article is for those who want to get the experience of kitkat on their pico. The thing about custom roms is that you have to try them by yourselves and then choose the one which suits you.

• Rooting voids your device warranty. DO this at your Own risk

• This method is specifically for htc pico and dont ever try this for any other devices
• Backup all necessary data as rom flashing wipes data 

Prerequisites :

• Install HTC USB drivers before starting the process
• Make sure that you have HTC OEM cable
• Charge your device to atleast 70%
• You should have custom Recovery installed on your device. eg: CWM

Downloads:

CM 11  G Apps    HTC USB DRIVERS

Let's Begin:

•  Download the ROM and Gapps file and copy them to your phones SD card.

• After the copying is complete , switch it off ansd then reboot into custom recovery (CWM) by holding down power button and volume down button simultaneously.

• From the CWM recovery mode, choose wipe data/factory reset. This will clear all the data from your device ( you have backed up your files, haven't you?)

• After that select wipe cache and from advanced option choose dalvik cache.

• Now return to the recovery menu and choose " Install zip from SD card". Then choose the CM11 zip file and continue the installation.

• Now repeat the same step to install Gapps zip file

• Now go back and select reboot system now .

• Wait for the device to reboot. Will take quite a lot of time at the first start up. Be patient

How To Unlock any HTC Device Bootloader Easily[Steps]

HTC has been supportive enough to help us in unlocking their devices bootloader. This step is most important for development purposes. A must for Rooting, installing custom Roms, and many other uses. The entire process of unlocking bootloader is quite lengthy and heavy. With proper care we can do it with ease. I have made a detailed guide on how to unlock bootloader on any HTC device.

Warning:

Unlocking the bootloader of any device causes its internal memory. Be sure to backup all data,photos,contacts etc..

• HTC device will lose its warranty if bootloader is unlocked.
• We aren't responsible for any damage happened to your device.
• Make sure your device is fully charged
• This works only for STOCK ROMS
• Install HTC SYNC
• Make sure you have all the required drives installed on your PC
• Java Runtime Environment required.

Let's Begin:

Step 1

• Install HTC Sync 

• Download This File:- HTCBOOTLOADER

• Now extract all its content to Main Drive( C:\android). 

Step 2

• Now you have to visit htcdev.com.

• Log in if you already registered, or fill a new registration. 

• Open "Unlock Bootloader" Section on site and click on "Get Started" icon.

• Select your device from the drop down list. ( if your device isn't listed. No need to worry, just select "All Supported Model". You will be fine )

• Click on " Begin Unlock Bootloader"

• When they ask for your permission just press "YES".

• Tick the boxes in Legal Terms and press " Proceed to Unlock Instructions"

• Follow the instructions as written on the HTC site. After you follow all 4 Steps on site. Click on " Proceed to Step 5". We have already completed step 5. Copied the tree files from zip file to C:\android.

Step 3

• open command prompt ( Start->Run and type cmd.)
• In command prompt type,  

cd c:\android
fastboot oem get_identifier_token

• Copy the output you see on the screen to notepad. You just require the sequence of numbers and letters. remove everything else.Do not edit "Identifier token start" or End.
  
• Paste the edited output inside the My Device Identifier Token box on the HTC’s Developer website, and press the Submit button.

• Now you will get an email from htc containing an .bin file which has the unlock code. Copy this file to your C:\android folder.

• Then on cmd , type;

fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin

 

• You will see a message on your HTC device asking that whether you really want to unlock your bootloader. navigate using volume up key and highlight Yes. Using Power button,select it. Your phone’s bootloader will be unlocked and it will restart automatically. The first boot might take some time though, so be patient.

 

 

 

 

Once restarted you have an unlocked HTC device ready to explore new a world.

Let's Begin:

Step 1

•  Download the rom zip file from above link, and copy it to your phone's SD card.(Root directory will be a better place as its easier to access)

Step 2

• Reboot into recovery mode.( " Volume Down"+"Power" )

Step 3 

• wipe data/factory reset , wipe cache partitions , wipe dalvik cache , wipe battery stats

Step 4

• Go back and Select " install zip from SD card", choose a zip to apply. Select the downloaded rom file and flash this zip file.

Step 5

• Wait till the flashing process is complete. The first reboot might take some time. Please be patient.

There you go! You have flashed a stock ROM on your Pico.

We have seen how to root HTC explorer a.k.a pico in our previous post- Root HTC A310E.

Now when you want to go to your company/dealer you have to unroot the device. Rooting voids warranty and support from dealer.

Here is how you can Unroot your htc explorer.

Warning:

Rooting can void warranty. Be careful while doing these steps.If incorrectly done, it can brick your phone. Don't worry warranty can be secured if unrooted.

• Make sure you have atleast 65% battery remaining
• You Should have Android SDK and Java runtime installed
• Back Up all your required data
• You should have already rooted your phone for this method to work.
• Must have ADB installed in your PC 
• Increase screen timeout on your device under Display settings (30+ min)
• Follow these methods carefully

Let's Begin:

• Download the Unroot Tool- Unroot HTC A310E

 

• Next you have to extract the files of the zip file to your desktop

 

• Enable USB Debugging on phone

 

• After extracting you will get two folders; one for unrooting and the other one for stock recovery.

• Connect phone to PC using USB cable.

• Double click the file named runme-UNROOT.bat under the Unrooting folder, and it will start unrooting your device.

• Wait for unrooting process to finish and reboot your device ( automatically reboots, no need to manually reboot your phone). Keep the phone connected to PC if you want stock recovery.

You have successfully unrootted your HTC pico. Now to make your device clean you have to install stock recovery.

• Do not remove phone from PC. Now run the recovery.bat file from stock recovery folder.

• This will help to flash your old stock recovery on htc pico.

• after installation is complete just disconnect device from PC.

Increase Internal Memory On HTC Explorer A310E Pico [ Link2SD ]

How To Increase Your HTC Pico's Internal Memory Using Link2SD

HTC explorer is super star in the android budget range. Loved equally by users and developers. I am not lying , see for yourself- almost all Cyanogen-mods ,scripts, kernels and lots more support Pico. Isn't it proof for its unmatched popularity.

Even with all these features, the greatest drawback is its lack in internal memory. Almost every user have complained about the dreaded low internal memory issue. Hopefully by the help of some awesome developers we managed to get a solution.

 A simple method to increase your pico's internal memory is explained here.  We use link2sd  ( an android app available for free in playstore) to do the process.

What is Link2SD?

 Link2SD uses the second partition of your SD card to use it as an additional segment of internal memory.

Warning:

• Phone Must Be Rooted . Check:- How To Root HTC Explorer Pico
• Remove App2SD if you have it installed
• Move Apps From SD To internal to link afterwards
• Install Link2SD, no need to run it.
• No Need to format your SD card, just have atleast 1 GB free space. 
• Stock ROM Supports FAT32 as primary. Those with kernal update having ext2,ext3 .. can use it also.

 

Let's Begin:

• Download MiniTool Partition Wizard From Internet.

•  Run Minitool Partition Wizard

•  Plug in your SD card using Card Reader ( USB Mounting is not trustworthy). You can view your SD card from Minitool partition ( try to reload if not present)

• Next right click on your SD card. From the pop up menu select " Move/Resize". It will bring you to a new section.

• Now move the memory slider to get min 512MB to 1024MB on " Unallocated Space", as shown in figure. I have created 1026.66 MB unallocated space. If you have a bigger SD card of 4-8-16-32 GB sizes, better go for 1-4 GB space. i was using a class 4 memory card ( 2GB ) for demonstration. Finally press OK

• Now you have to create a new partition on your unallocated space. For that right click on the new space and select" Create". (Right Click>>Create). It will show a pop-up message, just ignore it and press "Yes".  ( It just shows that after you partition on the primary can be seen on Windows. You can view it on MiniTool)

• This will lead you to new window , where you have to partition your newly created space. Select a name for your drive, Choose "Create As"- Primary, then select "File System"- FAT32. Leave "Cluster Size"- Default.  Finally Press OK.

• Then press " Apply " on Top Left Corner. It will give a warning, press OK and continue.

• It will take Some Time to create and resize partition. Wait till it finishes.

• You have successfully created the secondary partition for Link2SD. Reboot your device and follow the next processes on HTC Explorer.

Now Lets Head over to Link2SD

 

• Open Link2SD on your a310e, you will be welcomed with a screen like this. Now Select" FAT32 "

• Next you will encounter a SuperUser Request. Press Allow button on the screen.

• Now you will get a message showing that mount script have been successfully created on your SD card. You need to restart your device. Press OK at the menu.

 

• Now you will recieve the old Power options. Choose Restart. Once restarted open Link2SD and click the Menu button and go to "Storage Info". You can see your Internal memory, and the two SD partitions.

•  Now use Multi Select and select all the app to transfer. You can Select the Apps one by one also.

• Once you have selected all the required apps press "Actions" button. It Will Give You a new window with the following options as in figure. Select " Create Link"

•  Next you will recieve a " Create Link? " Window. Tick all the three options and press OK.

• Once done you can see the selected apps have been linked to your SD card ( see an orange colored text on top of the app). Next Reboot Your Phone.

• After Rebooting you have to configure your Link2SD settings. Go to Settings by pressing the menu button and configure how you would like Link2SD to work. 

There You go! You have successfully installed and configured Link2SD to increase  your internal memory. ( Enable Auto link).

HTC Explorer is a great entry level budget android phone with loads of stuff. Thanks to the mighty HTC hardware this little device can power even the jellybean with a 600MHz CPU.

Before Starting: You Can Also Check-

1. Root HTC Explorer A310E

2. Install CWM Recovery on HTC Explorer

3. Install ICS On HTC Explorer using CyanogenMod9

HTC Explorer can really handle the ROM without much lags or any sort of disturbances.

Warning:

Instructions: Must Read 

Before Installing The ROM You have To Install CWM Recovery. It can be done only after rooting your phone. Backup all your Data since installing new rom will erase phone data.

We aren't responsible for any damage happened to your phone. Rooting can Void Warranty. Don't try this guide if you have no idea about rooting or any of the mentioned procedures.

Before Starting:

1. Root Your Phone + Unlock bootloader. Click here for procedure. 

2. You have to install A CWM recovery.- Click here

3. Make sure you have atleast 65% of battery charge to spare.

4. Download The .zip ROM from source-Download

5. You wont get Google Apps in this Rom, so you have to get the zip for Gapps installation. Download them for CM10.

Let's Start:

 

1. Download .zip ROM file and kernel file from the link.

2. Connect your phone to PC using USB cable- don't forget to enable USB debugging 

3. Copy both files to the external memory. Don’t extract them. ( Its better to place files on SD). If you want you can place the GApps in phone, copy the files also.

4. Disconnect mobile from PC and Turn it off by long pressing power button.

5. Enter into the bootloader mode. To enter into bootloader mode, Hold Volume Down + Power Button simultaneously until bootloader mode appears.

6. In bootloader menu navigate using volume keys and highlight recovery and enter into recovery mode by pressing Power button. You will now reach Custom recovery.

7. Now wipe "data/factory reset" and then " wipe cache partition " to wipe all the data and caches respectively on the phone.

8. Now let's Flash the ROM. Select install zip from sdcard and then choose zip from sdcard. Then select the CyanogenMod 10 file and install.

9. The installation takes some time to finish. 

Note: If you want to install GAPPS then repeat the step of install zip from sdcard and chose zip from sdcard. But this time chose Gapps package.

10. After successful flashing of both the files, select  +++++Go back+++++  and then reboot system now. Normally the first boot takes quite a lot of time. Please be patient.

How To Install ICS 4.0.4 Custom ROM On HTC Explorer

We have seen how to root HTC Explorer and now lets install ICS ROM CyanogenMod 9 on this cute little device.

Warning:

Instructions: MustRead

• Should have CWM recovery installed after rooting
• For Rooting check: How To Root HTC Explorer
• Then go to Google play-store and installed CWM recovery
• Unlock bootloader - HTC learn by going to htcdev site

Let's Start: 

• Download "ICS 4.0.4 CM9 Android ROM" zip file from internet

• Connect and mount your HTC Explorer USB (mass) memory on your computer using the USB cable.

• Copy the downloaded ROM zip file into you SD card(SD card root)

• Switch off your phone

• Next you have to reboot into bootloader mode- Turn on the phone while pressing and holding the Volume Down + Power buttons.

• Select bootloader from menu and go to recovery (Navigate using Vol up and down and select using power button)

• In ClockworkMod recovery, wipe data first. Then move/scroll down to “flash zip from SD card” and press the power button to select it.

• Press the power button again and select “choose zip from sdcard”.

• Now using your volume keys, navigate to ICS ROM zip file and select it using the power button. Confirm the installation on the next screen and the installation procedure should start now.

• After the installation completes, go to “+++++Go Back” and reboot the phone by selecting “reboot system now” from the recovery menu. Your phone will boot now and it might take about 5 minutes to boot on your first time. So, please wait. 

Now you have successfully installed ICS CM9 ROM on your HTC pico Ae310

Root HTC One : Simple Way To Root Your One

How To Root Your HTC One JellyBean

Do this after you have unlocked One's Boot loader- Unlock Bootloader

Warning:

•  You should be aware that  rooting an android device will make its warranty void.

• To Regain Warranty incase of any problems Unroot the device 

• AIO Toolkit and the instructions provided in this guide are exclusively meant for the HTC One model only. Do not attempt this procedure on any other device, as it may lead to undesirable outcomes including permanent hardware damage to your device.
      
• Make sure that the phone's bootloader is unlocked and important data on the device is backed up before proceeding with root procedure.
      
• Verify that the correct USB drivers are installed for the phone on computer. Download HTC Sync Manager which includes the device's USB drivers.
      
• Avoid installing official Over-The-Air (OTA) updates from HTC after rooting or unlocking the device, as it is known to cause issues with the device.
     
• Make sure that either ClockworkMod (CWM) or TWRP recovery is already installed on the device.
    
•  Download Fastboot and extract the Fastboot.zip file to a convenient location on computer and name the folder as "Fastboot".
      
• The instructions provided in this guide are meant for reference purpose only. We will not be held liable if the device is damaged or bricked during the root installation with AIO toolkit. Users must proceed at their own risk.
   

Let's Start:

1.    Download the root package, which can be installed via custom recovery to obtain root access -- Root HTC One.zip

2.    Without extracting, copy the root file to the phone's internal storage.

3.    Boot the phone into recovery. To do so, Power off the phone and boot it into HBOOT/bootloader mode by holding Volume down and Power buttons together until the screen turns on. Then, hit the volume down button a few times to scroll down and highlight the Recovery option. Choose it by tapping Power button to boot into recovery.

4.    The phone can be rooted based on the type of custom recovery tool installed on the device. So, just follow the simple steps for the recovery type you have installed.

    CWM: ChooseInstall zip from sdcard and click Choose zip from SD card. Navigate to theRoot HTC One.zipfileand tap on it to select it. Then, confirm root installation by choosing Yes on next screen.
    TWRP: ClickInstall, then browse to theRoot HTC One.zipfile and tap on it. Then, slide the circle at the bottom to the right to begin installing the root file.

5.    Once the root installation is done, reboot the phone by tapping the Reboot System Now option in CWM recovery main menu, or the Reboot system button in TWRP recovery that shows up once installation completes.

6.    When the phone reboots to the home screen, do the following to finalise the root process.

    Install the BusyBox app from the Play Store .Now, launch the app BusyBox Free on the phone. Once the app is launched, you will get a "Superuser request" message window, where you must hit Grant to allow root access to the BusyBox app.
    Then close the welcome message and wait for a few seconds till a message reading: "Smart install has finished loading" appears on screen. Close this message as well.
    Now, click Install, followed by Normal Install to install busybox files, which might take about 2 minutes. These files are needed by some apps for proper root access and to perform advanced functions.
    Finally, a message box confirming that busybox was successfully installed appears on the screen. Quit this message and then exit the BusyBox app, which you can uninstall now if desired.

7.    Rooting process is now complete. Whenever an app or operation needs root access, a prompt requesting Super-User access appears on-screen. You can now opt to either give or deny access.

How To Unlock BootLoader - HTC One

How To Unlock The HTC One Bootloader

 

 

The HTC One uses an all-aluminum frame with an antenna built into its backing; intended to give the device a premium feel in comparison to smartphones made with a plastic shell. The frame itself takes at least 200 minutes to manufacture^. Internally, the device includes a 1.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 4.7 inch 1080p Super LCD 3 display with 468 ppi, and either 32 or 64 GB of internal, non-expandable storage^. The HTC One will also support LTE where available.

 

Steps To Unlock The Bootloader :

1.    Go to the htcdev and create an user account using the Register link.

2.    Once registration is complete and you have verified your e-mail, login with the new account and launch the unlock bootloader page.
Click on the direct link to the unlock bootloader page here

3.    Choose the option All Other Supported Models from the drop down menu on the right and then click on Begin Unlock Bootloader page.

4.    A pop-up warning comes up on screen. Now, hit the Yes button.

5.    You will get a prompt to accept some legal terms; tick on both the check boxes and hit Proceed to Unlock Instructions button.

6.    The next page presents you four steps, whose simple explanation is given below:

    Power off the phone and disconnect it from the computer.
    Press and hold Volume down and Power button together until the phone enters Bootloader mode.
    Now, choose Fastboot by tapping Power button.

NOTE: Use the Volume buttons to navigate and Power button to choose the highlighted option in Bootloader mode.

4.    Finally, connect your phone to the computer.

7.    Browse to the second page on the htcdev site and click Proceed to Step 5 button.

8.    On the second page, just ignore anything that htcdev site is saying and instead do the following steps:

    Open Fastboot folder. Now, press and hold down the SHIFT button on the keyboard, then right-click on any empty space of the screen. Finally, click on the Open Command Window Here option in the right-click menu to open a command prompt window.

    In the command prompt window, type the following command: fastboot devices:

       NOTE: This will ensure that your device is detected. If nothing appears on-screen with this command, then it means you don't have the proper drivers installed on computer. Verify that the correct USB drivers are downloaded and installed by reinstalling the HTC Sync Manager. And also restart your computer if required.

9.    On the third page of the htcdev site, click Proceed to Step 8 button at the bottom. Do not forget to keep the command prompt window open.

10.  After you have read all the Steps given on the htcdev site carefully, click on the Submit button.

11.  If all the steps are done correctly, a "Token Submitted Succesfully!" message appears on next page. An e-mail with the unlock key attached as a file will now be sent to your registered e-mail ID.

12.  Access the e-mail you received from HTC, and download the Unlock_code.bin file attached to it.

13.  Copy the Unlock_code.bin to the Fastboot folder, which contains a total of 5 files inside.

14.  Flash the Unlock_code.bin file on the phone using fastboot:

    Enter the following command in the command prompt window: fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin

    An Unlock bootloader request message will now appear on your phone. Use Volume Up button to choose Yes and Power button to confirm and continue.
    The phone will reboot and factory reset itself. It is now safe to disconnect the phone from computer.


15.  HTC One's bootloader is now unlocked. To confirm, boot into bootloader mode (follow Step 6) and the  "UNLOCKED" message will appear at the top of the screen.

The bootloader on your HTC One is now unlocked and you can now root it, install custom ROMs and kernels or make other modifications whenever needed.
